POSITION SUMMARY/ PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The role of the position to be to develop and execute a programming strategy and content line up for both a linear and OTT network that drives subscriber and viewership. Using data and performance of content determine the mix of both licensed, exclusive and evergreen content to drive subscriber and ratings while staying financially grounded and within the business plan budget. In addition, the role will be responsible for setting up an intake process for inbound pitches for concepts for consideration for “green lighting”. Actively reaching out to producers, artist and media companies to source the best content at the lowest costs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Set and execute programming strategy for JV’s OTT platform and D2 linear service to capture and captivate audience, informed by digital analytics.
  2. Guide the development of the content centered around country artists and the passions, hobbies, and country lifestyles they share with those who love their music. Maximize and honor the existing relationships the JV partners have with country artists.
  3. Guide the process of commissioning outside production companies to produce original programming. Oversee outside production companies on all projects to ensure quality programming with timely effective production and delivery.
  4. Guide the decisions on licensing third party programming on exclusive and non-exclusive basis, to create positive content experiences across the OTT ecosystem.
  5. Maximize the use of the Opry’s television archives with knowledge of the inherent costs associated with programming the music content.
  6. Increase audience engagement and overall brand awareness in conjunction with marketing team. Exhibit a willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the fly. Continuous evolvement of strategy is a must.
  7. Manage JV programming budget
  8. Work closely with executive team (GM, Head of Platform, Head of Marketing) to set Content team goals and manage team’s work to meet and surpass those goals.
  9. Manage schedules, overtime reports and performance for direct reports, including but not limited yearly reviews  

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
A. KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field. MBA in marketing a plus.
  • 10-15 years of experience as a respected leader in content creation.
  • Experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics.
  • Audience development and subscription strategies experience a plus.
